The Roots of Scottish Games Do you want to talk Genealogy, Tartans, Family Crests, or just listen to some "old world" Gaelic? Then plan a visit to the Clans area.
Athletics, piping, fiddle, and harp contests began in the 11th century when chiefs and kings met to choose the most talented men for their courts, body guards and amusement.
Today's clan representatives traveled far to see and meet with you, as well as each other. New memberships are welcome, but not required when making rounds of the clan tents to talk, look, and learn. The representatives are eager to answer your questions about families, names, Scotland, and Scottish life and culture. Those with family or society connections are especially welcome.
We would like to invite your Clan or Society to participate in the 2010 Capital District Scottish Games. If you’re interested just click here to download registration information. Or ... while you're at the Games, give your name and address at the Clans & Societies Headquarters Tent.
Search your roots at the Games this year. You may be eligible to become part of the fun, fellowship, and proud heritage that all Scottish clans have to offer. Over a hundred Scottish Clans and the following Societies are invited to attend this year: - Capital District Scottish Society
- Council of Scottish Clans & Associations
- St. Andrews Society of Albany
- St. Andrews Society of Connecticut
- St. Andrews Society of Schenectady
- Scottish American Military Society
- Scottish Military History Association
- Tartan Education & Culture Association
