Rathkeltair Taking top honors for Best Celtic Rock Band of 2006 in the annual Celtic MP3s Music Magazine Peoples Choice Awards, RATHKELTAÍR offers one of the most exciting, audience-friendly shows you will see anywhere. Appealing to all ages, RATHKELTAÍR can tailor its show to any venue, and is equally at home in small rooms or stadiums.
RATHKELTAÍR consists of piper Neil Anderson and drummer Nick Watson, two original members of America's ground-breaking Celtic rock powerhouse 7 Nations (Atlantic), and Trevor Tanner, front-man/lead guitarist and songwriter for The Bolshoi (Beggar's Banquet), a mainstay on the London club scene and one of the most influential British underground bands of the late 80's.
Since its debut in 2003, RATHKELTAÍR has become one of the most talked-about bands on the North American festival circuit. It’s hard to categorize RATHKELTAÍR, but you could loosely describe it as Celtic rock jam fusion. First-time listeners have favorably compared Rathkeltair to everything from The Chieftains to Widespread Panic.
Compelling original material, coupled with a jam-band mentality and the combination of three formidable multi-instrumentalists who play together with incredible intensity and dynamics make RATHKELTAÍR a must-see. The band has headlined some of the largest Celtic festivals in the world, including a widely acclaimed first-ever appearance at the 2008 Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio, a weekend-long event with over 40,000 visitors annually.
The name RATHKELTAÍR comes from Nick , a native of County Down, Northern Ireland. It means "hill of the Celts" and is an ancient archaeological site near Nick’s home village of Killyleagh. http://www.rathkeltair.com/
